Tonka 13 years old

We picked up Tonka from Animal Care and Control on 2/27, and she passed early morning at home in her mommy’s arms on 3/2.  It is astonishing how quickly you can bond with such a sweet soul.  For us, it was love at first sight when we saw her at the shelter.  It is no wonder she was a shelter favorite! She could not move around very well and was very shy.  We knew we had to get that girl out of there so she could have a home full of love. It didn’t take her long to relax, and she fit in instantly.  We are pretty sure Mr. Coffee Bean fell in love with her at first sight as well. 

She was a gentle giant and didn’t mind treading lightly to get around the little blind Yorkies.  We learned so much about her in such a short time. She snored, loved to go on walks, hated getting a bath, loved to eat, and was picky when it came to treats! We took her to the vet, and she was a perfect patient. She never complained even though she had a raging UTI, fleas, and some other small issues. Everyone there fell in love with Tonka Toy.  She had that gift.  Her eyes would light up and her tail would wag whenever mommy came into the room like we had been best friends for years. The love and loyalty of a dog can never be topped.

Tonka died at home in mommy’s arms.  While her passing was a shock, we could not have been happier that we sprang her from the shelter so she could pass knowing that she was loved and deserved the best life.  We love you forever Tonka.
